SEATTLE — In this video, Infectious Disease News Editorial Board Member Keith S. Kaye, MD, MPH, talks about antimicrobial stewardship as a place to develop leadership skills.
Kaye delivered a talk on leadership in antimicrobial stewardship at the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America Spring Conference.
“In the stewardship world, we often don’t have the luxury of having a COO or something to be a manager, so we often are responsible for both management and leadership roles, and while there are some similarities in the two, there also are some distinct differences,” said Kaye, who is division chief of allergy, immunology and infectious diseases and a professor of infectious diseases and medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
“Antimicrobial stewardship is a great place to develop and practice leadership skills,” he said.
